Licensed Massage Therapist

Job Specifications/Qualifications: 

  • Required education: High school or equivalent
  • Required experience: 12 – 18 months preferred experience working in a high-end resort or urban spa environment
  • Required license or certification: Valid State Issued Massage Therapist License
  • Must have received massage training from an accredited/approved massage school.
  • Thoroughly educated and understands the anatomy of the body and the effects of the specific techniques utilized to determine whether such application is contraindicated and/or to determine the most beneficial services to recommend to a given individual.
  • Must possess a cooperative and positive attitude, exercising reason.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and provide legible and articulate communication.
  • Must be able to interact professionally and with sensitivity to the needs of the guests and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates commitment to provide the highest quality of massage therapy to those who seek their professional service.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as maybe scheduled by your Spa Director with prior notice.

Job Functions, Unique Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comprehends, adheres and abides by Steiner policies and procedures.
  • Provides guests with thorough and knowledgeable professional massage treatments, adhering to company protocols.
  • Attend and pass a detailed technician training program to ensure competency and knowledge to perform all required spa services. Lead trainer sign off required.
  • Begins and ends treatments at the published times and ensures correct procedures followed.
  • Ensure that guests receive a detailed prescription form after each service.
  • Ensure that professional stock being used follows the correct company PAR levels to assist with the reduction in product waste
  • Responsible for setting up treatment room according to standards
  • Required to maintain the established goals as set for the massage department.
  • Demonstrates respect, sensitivity, and concern for guests' needs with a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Upholds and practices the universal health care protocol and standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by state/city law and the spa’s policies and procedures when dealing with guests and coworkers.
  • Reports to works on time and as per the company attendance policy
  • Actively promotes the spa, treatments, services, sessions and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
  • Has complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training guests in these areas.
  • Performs prep work and properly cleans and restocks room as per spa protocol
  • Communicates to management all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa
  • Completes and submits necessary paperwork, checks mailbox, and reads posted notices on bulletin board.
  • Attends scheduled departmental meetings, trainings and workshops as directed.
  • Interacts cooperatively and with consideration towards guests and co-workers.
  • Exercises dependability and willingness to work with schedule flexibility.
  • Always dresses in a professional manner, proper dress being defined as attire suitable and consistent with Steiner dress code policies.
  • Provides services within the scope of practice of profession as defined by the state/city/ local law, and in accordance with applicable regional laws and regulations.
